Umang Jain – the Cadbury girl!

The line, Kya main aapko jaanthi hoon? (Do I know you?), with a confused and irritated look of Umang Jain in a Cadbury advert has fluttered a million hearts, adding up to this peary-eyed model-plus-actor’s fanbase.

Everything about the Cadbury Shubh Aarambh’s commercial was adorable – the mood of the picture, the simplicity of the dialogues, and the subtle background music – and icing on the cake was Umang’s timid girl-next-door act, which has made it a memorable piece of work on the small screen.

So big was the impact of the commercial on the audiences that the following days saw fan pages for Umang and the advert popping up on the social networking site, Facebook. Totally worth it, they said!

It wouldn’t be wrong to call this diva a born actor, quite evident from her work portfolio that boasts of more than 12 years of experience – yes, almost of half her age!

Umang’s fascinating career started at the age of ten, when she was featured in a weekly Indian show, Justujoo on Zee TV in 2002 and in 2006, she appeared in Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai, a Hindi suspense-thriller on Star Plus.

However, her big break on small screen came later on in 2010, through a teen sitcom, Sunaina, which was aired on Pogo channel. The show garnered the talented Umang many accolades from the viewers.

Umang’s charm and talent wasn’t just limited to the small screen; she forayed into the Hindi film industry with Love Breakups Zindagi (October 2011), in which she acted alongside acclaimed stars (divas) – Dia Mirza, Auritra Ghosh, Tisca Chopra and Pallavi Sharda! Her second movie, Shakal Pe Mat Ja, a comedy drama released a month later.

Although these two movies couldn’t make a lasting mark, Umang wasn’t bogged down by it, as she bagged a Malayalam thriller, Aaru Sundarimaarude Katha (2013), a women-centric movie. She played an aspiring tennis player, which apparently is her favorite sport. 🙂
