Saina Nehwal’s ordeals in training and hard work paid off when her talent got into limelight with the winning of The Junior Czech Open in 2003. The ace shuttler made every Indian proud becoming the first Indian woman to win Philippines Open, a 4-star tournament, in 2006. That was just onset of many more laurels she was to bring to the country. The then 19-year old became the first Indian to win a BWF Super Series title at the Indonesia Open, in 2009. Her other achievements being a bronze at 2010 Asian Championship, gold at 2010 Commonwealth Games, 2010-12 Swiss Open Gold, 2014 India Grand Prix Gold and so on. She put her birthplace Hisar in Haryana on the world map winning a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics. These career records elucidate her phenomenal dedication toward the badminton sport and zeal to succeed.
Saina Nehwal has been garnered with the nation’s highest respected wearing prizes for a sports person, including the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award, and Padma Shri awards.
