The Vintage Vibes
The quality of vintage material is contained in the history it carries, the stories they hold and the timelessness wrapped around it. A piece of vintage equipment has a quality, an aura that enchants and thrills admirers in its periphery. The charm is irresistible, the beauty raving with a mind that takes on a life of its own.
We stumbled upon some vintage advertisements with some of India’s most ravishing beauties honouring it.
Lux
Saira Banu, subtle, yet magnetic, beautiful in a way that seems impossible in today’s times. Her beauty was a beacon to many young girls from her time. Wonder if this ad was something like a poster in teenage girls’ alamaries and between their textbook pages.
Murphy Radio
Sharmila Tagore is the Queen of vintage; everything she every does brings oodles of elan and elegance. This Murphy Radio ad looks like an unlikely product to endorse for her but once you keep looking at it for a couple of minutes, you realise, she totally makes the promotion casual and stylish.
Lakme
Rekha always made news; with her movies, her life but she did everything with a lot of glamour and style. So it’s not surprise that Lakme chose her to promote their brand. If you look at the text, it tells you a lot about both the brand and Rekha’s image prowess matching Lakme’s goal.
Air-India
She is the poster child for modern women in the 60s-70s, exploring the unconventional, a style icon and drop dread gorgeous. This close up of Zeenat Aman for a print ad for Air India is so perfect; that expression with her untamed eyes looking at you longingly is enough reason to maybe explore the country a bit more eh?
Subhashlene
A fairly unknown brand now and a gorgeous and young Jaya Bhaduri modelling for it. She had one of the most innocent faces. Everything about the ad is simple.
