The beautiful diva playing wife and mesmerizing over 250 million South Indian population her hubby in the TVC is Ishita Sharma. (Not to confuse this Ishita with the Pyaar Ka Punchnama starrer) May be you haven’t seen the multi-talented actress as the ad is aired only in the South… Have you watched her urban attitude in the latest Airtel Re. 1 campaign?

To the external world: Industry portrays very stereotype image of women in the ad films (and even mass media on that occasion). Wife usually are portrayed as homemakers, typical family care takers, traditional art pursuers, or even objects of lust… Though unfortunate a gurus claim that impersonation of these image makes a storytelling easier in the little span of 30 seconds. Glycerin tears on the other hand helps increase the the television viewership. Women shedding tears is directly proportional to TRP ratings! 😐
The trend is however changing with the advent of women empowerment programs, debates on News channels, social media and also some thought-provoking and entertaining cinemas.

Well, well, coming back to our diva, Ishita Sharma was born in the picturesque city Dehradun. Having moved to Mumbai, she started out modeling for ads and acting in TV shows (like Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat) during schooling as a hobby! She likes to be a commercial model and personify different characters through acting (than walk the ramp types model).
Her presence in print, television, and social media campaigns has beautified several campaigns. Some of the brands modelled by Ishita include Parachute, Doctor Lips, Meera Shampoo, LIC Jeevan Anand and so on. The dimpled face diva has worked in a handful of short films – Loins of Punjab Presents (mockumentary) and Cycle Kick; Hindi feature films – Dil Dosti Etc, Dulha Mil Gaya; and a Tamil movie titled Sakkarakatti. Skills to emote and pretty looks landed her in the hit television soap Kuch Toh Log Kahenge on Sony TV, where she plays Anjali Solanki. Ishita looks up to Kajol Devagn and Rani Mukarjee for inspiration!

Ishita holds a B.A. in Psychology and English Literature from National College, Mumbai, and is currently pursuing her M.Sc. in Human Development. Ishita is also a trained Kathak dancer. She had recently performed at the prestigious Khajuraho Festival of Dances 2013, as part of her teacher, Sangeet Kala Ratna and Pandita Uma Dograji’s troupe. She married actor Mohit Chaddha in 2011.
