Model Henna Maria Kennedy's Foray Into Politics
Models are all looks and no brains- this is a statement we have heard before; read it in magazines, heard it said in sitcoms and watched it in the movies. News like the one we are writing about breaks those stereotypes.
Henna Maria Kennedy, a twenty two-year old model and an engineering pass out in Electronics and Communication, is making history by contesting as a BJP candidate at St Joseph Ward from Kalamassery Municipality.
Henna won the runner-up title in the Navy Queen contest held at Kataribhagh in Kochi in 2011 and later went on to contest in the semifinals of last years’s Femina Miss India contest. When Henna, started her modelling career at the age of 16, it was just a hobby for her. Her passion, however, was to become a social worker.
When Neha Dhupia said modelling is not brainless, this is what she perhaps meant. Dhupia who is anchoring the” Kingfisher Supermodels 3″ where she is mentoring 10 models spoke up about the respect the profession deserves. The contestants are practicing lawyers, dentists and have corporate jobs.
These girls also come from families that are highly educated. It is indeed very wrong of the media and the public to paint a picture of the profession requiring lack of brain activity.
