Lights, Camera And Strut
Reality shows are the flavour of this era. The drama and suspense when paired with good timing and sensibilities can be killing and create the desired impact. Even with the internet taking over so many different areas of print and broadcast, television has always somehow managed to stay afloat finding ways to keep their couch potatoes stay in the spot.
India’s Next Top Model is a show that follows the script, keeping it true to what reality shows are all about. The series is an Indian version of the Tyra Banks created American reality series. The crux of the show revolves around women/models competing against each other for the title of “Top Model”.

The series hosted by actress/model Lisa Hayden, judged by ace photographer, Dabboo Ratnani and mentored by Anusha Dandekar, keeps you on the edge and keeps you guessing. With all the right ingredients of what a reality show should be like, this one cuts in perfectly just like its American counterpart.
You may at times feel the melodrama is a bit over the top but that’s what reality shows are right? The girls have their meltdown moments, their spirits crushed, their dreams mirrored back with no future and these are all extremely sensitive for all of us as human beings. To put ourselves in their shoes and do what they are doing is pretty daunting come to think of it. So without taking any credit away from the contestants who are competing and being the brave warriors they are, the overall production quality or the overwhelming drama can be overlooked.
The top three finalists for this season included Danielle Canute, Gloria Tep and Rushali Rai. While they all had their highs and lows, the three did their best and brought in their A-game into the show. All three girls have a lot going for them.
